French Leaving Cert
Wednesday 12th saw the resutls being published for the Leaving Certificate. Across the board the usual subjects continued to decline in popularity – Maths, Physics and Chemistry. These are the very elements upon which our economic future is strapped to, so it does leave one wondering about how secure those straps are that holds our collective futures.
From the languages point of view French is still the main foreign language offering and the most attractive to students traditionally. The numbers sitting French in the Leaving Cert are relatively steady while the numbers in the more exotic languages (European: Latvian, Romanian – Oriental: Japanese) are increasing for obvious reasons.
Who knows? In twenty years time we may all be grappling with Mandarin as our core language as we step over our European neighbours to gain a foothold in the emerging economic superpower that is China. In any case proficiency in any language can only contribute to our abillity to master another language.
For those who were disappointed with their Leaving Cert results in French then help is at hand. Throough this website we hope to cast a chink of light upon the dark art of spoken and written French. In time this chink will hopefully become a focussed beam that leads you into a much brighter dawn and a comfortable grasp of the essentials of this lovely language.
Drop me an email if you think you need that chink of light.
